Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs)

Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) are used in constructing the foundation of your super-insulated home. The Greenblock design we use originated in Europe over 40 years ago and consists of Lego-Type interlocking polystyrene blocks that hold the poured concrete in place. These blocks stay in place, giving you 2 5/8” of rigid foam insulation on each side of your foundation walls. That’s a total of 5 ¼ inches of foam insulating your basement walls or crawl space!

The thermal resistance of the foam alone is an R-24. Coupled with the thermal mass characteristics of concrete, as well as the absence of air infiltration, this system provides a wall system comparable to that of an R-50 wood-framed wall.

Finishing the walls of your basement is easy. Drywall can be screwed directly into the Web-Ties that are built into the ICFs, located every 6” on center.
