The windows we have chosen to complete the super-insulated exterior shell of your home offer substantially improved insulation, low reflectance and high light transmittance.
This is accomplished by using the latest and highest technological improvements.
A thin Mylar film is placed between two sheets of Low-E glass. This Mylar film is coated with a special coating designed and patented by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) known as Heat Mirror ® technology. This technology actually reflects heat back to its source – to the outside during summer, and to the inside during winter. (This technology also blocks over 99.5% of damaging ultraviolet radiation below 380 nanometers, while maintaining a clear, colorless appearance. This ultraviolet light accounts for the majority of fading damage to furniture, carpets, artwork, etc.)
The two spaces created between the Mylar film and the Low-E glass are then filled with the gas krypton, which has twice the density and insulating value of Argon gas which is more commonly used.
The window frame is a multi-chambered design, consisting of 22 separate compartments that add strength and additional insulation. The insulating performance rated by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), a third party laboratory much like UL®, is R-9.1
These windows are manufactured here in Colorado, and can travel over any mountain pass without breaking its seal and loosing the insulating gas – a problem for most other window manufacturers who manufacture outside of Colorado.
Periodically, 21st Century Homes holds free seminars at which you can learn about our energy-saving home packages and how they are revolutionizing the home building business.
